SIGN CONTRACTS FOR OFFICE• ON AGING
SPECIFIC REOUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION
Authorize Director of Office on Aging to conduct contract
negotiations and execute contracts with the following Title V
Senior Employment Program host agencies for FY 1990-91.
These contracts are funded through federal funds under the
Title V of the Older Americans Act.

II. FINANCIAL IMPACT
County match for administration, enrollee wages and fringe
benefits, and other enrollee costs, will total $24 , 403 which
is included in the proposed County Social Service
Department's projected budget for FY 1990-911.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND
The Title V Senior Community Services Employment Program has
been operated through the County Office on Aging since 1977.
The Office on Aging is also submitting under" separate cover a
board order under which the Board of Supervisors will be
authorizing the Director, Office on Aging to,: submit the Title
V Grant Application to the California Department of Aging for
FY 1990-91. The grant will generate $138, 250 in Federal
funds to provide part-time employment for 25~' low income
persons age 55+. Upon Board of Supervisors approval the
County will enter into contracts with the agencies listed
above to provide twenty Title V job slots. (The balance of 5
job slots is currently allocated to the County Social Service
Department) .
