IN THE MATTER OF )
Supporting the cooperative )
grant application to the Contra)
Costa Transportation Authority ) RESOLUTION NO. 90/414
WHEREAS, the voters of Contra Costa County approved the
Contra Costa Transportation Improvement and Growth Management
Program (Measure C) in November of 1988; and
WHEREAS, the Iron Horse Trail in the San Ramon Valley was
specifically identified as a facility of regional significance in
the Measure C expenditure plan; and
WHEREAS, the Iron Horse Trail in the San Ramon Valley is
included as a major component in the Contra Costa County General
Plan, the East Bay Regional Park District Master Plan, the Town
of Danville General Plan and Town-wide Trails Master Plan, the
City of San Ramon General Plan and Parks and Recreation Master
Plan, and Contra Costa County Special Services Area R-7A (Alamo)
Recreation Master Plan; and
WHEREAS; the East Bay Regional Park District has a license
with Contra Costa County to operate and maintain the completed
Iron Horse Trail in the San Ramon Valley; and
WHEREAS, this trail will connect the communities of Walnut
Creek, Danville and San Ramon; running adjacent to six elementary
schools, two intermediate schools, three high schools, directly
through a major business park (Bishop Ranch) , and other employ-
ment centers; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervi-
sors of Contra Costa County, does hereby support the grant
application to the Contra Costa Transportation Authority in the
amount of $670,000 for construction of the Iron Horse Regional
Trail in the San Ramon Valley.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by unanimous vote of the Board members
present on this 26th day of June.
