Auditor/Controller :4 Aviation Advisory Committee June 1 , 1990 Board of Supervisors Contra Costa County Gentlemen : The following is a suggested draft proposal of a comment on a notice of proposed rule making by the F .A.A. and D .O. E . Background : The Department of Energy/D .O. E. / wants to create a prohibited airspace covering approximately 80 square miles centered around the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory to an altitude of 3000 feet M. S. L . If this proposal is adopted by the F .A.A. , it would virtually cripple the Livermore airport and eliminate the pre- cision instrument landing facility there . As a result Buchannan Field can expect to experience an increase in traffic , based aircraft , training flights , increase in ambient noise polution , etc . For the above reasons , the A.A.C . felt that it should be recom- mended to the supervisors that they comment on the proposal . The F .A.A. in the course of its rule making process solicit' com- ments from all interested parties . Public comments received at various hearings have been unanimously negative ! Written comments should be submitted in triplicate before July 7 , 1990 to the following address ; Federal Aviation Administration Office of the Chief Counsel Attention : Rules Docket (AGC- 10 ) Airspace Docket #90-AWA- 1 D.
