III. Reasons for Recommendation/Background
The position is assigned to plan and coordinate Social Service
Department work programs and also related to placement of GAIN
participants and to act as Work Programs Coordinator/liaison
with other County Departments and private non-profit agencies.
The work is being done by a Vocational Counselor position
which is inappropriate for the more advanced and
administrative nature of the actual work performed. A
classification questionnaire concerning the position will be
forwarded to you; attached to this request document are
outlines and other material explaining the position in some
detail. The Department is requesting this position be
allocated at the salary level of Social Work Supervisor I
which is seen as a comparable level in the organization.
IV. Consequence of Request:
The position will remain inappropriately classified if this
request is not approved and would have negative labor
relations implications.
