The health problems of infants who have been exposed to
drugs.
.The special feeding needs of infants who have been
exposed to drugs.
The special care needs of infants who have been exposed
to drugs, such as not overstimulating those infants who
are addicted to cocaine.
4. Declares that the cost of printing one million copies of the
brochure would be approximately $20,000 and indicating the
intent of the Legislature that these funds be obtained
through appropriations made to the department in the Budget
Act.
SB 2389 appears to be consistent with the Board of Supervisors '
Alcohol and Drug Action Plan in that it assists in identifying
those babies who may be drug exposed so treatment and special
services can be sought for them promptly. As a result, it is
recommended that the Board of Supervisors indicate its support
for SB 2389.
SB 2389 passed the Senate Health and Human Services Committee on
April 18, 1990 by a vote of 8:0. The bill passed the Senate
Appropriations Committee on May 21, 1990 by a vote of 10 : 0. The
bill is currently awaiting a vote by the full Senate.
