June 22, 1990 as CAPTAIN LONNIE F. CAGLE ) RESOLUTION NO. 90/380
DAY in Contra Costa County )
WHEREAS, On June 22, 1990 at the Naval Weapons Station Concord, California,
Captain Lonnie F. Cagle, United States Navy; will be honored on his retire-
ment during the Change of Command and Retirement Ceremony; and
WHEREAS, Captain Cagle was born in Dixon, California, attended the University
of California at Davis, graduated in 1960, and was commissioned an Ensign in
May 1961 through the Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island; and
WHEREAS, Captain Cagle's personal awards and decorations include the Legion
of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal with combat distinguishing device, the
Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, the Armed Forces
Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Unit
Gallantry Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Naval Cross of Gallantry Second
Class; and
WHEREAS, Captain Cagle assumed command of Naval Weapons Station Concord in
July 1987 and served with distinction while maintaining good neighbor rela-
tions with the citizens of Contra Costa County; and
WHEREAS, Captain Cagle has been a special friend and supporter of the
veteran community of Contra Costa County, has often graciously consented
to participate as guest speaker at Veteran Day and Memorial Day observances
within the county, and has made available the services of military color
and honor guards;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors that Friday,
June 22, 1990 is proclaimed CAPTAIN LONNIE F. CAGLE DAY in Contra Costa
County and that all citizens join in honoring him for twenty-nine years of
exemplary dedication and service to our nation, and further wish the Cagle
family happiness and prosperity in the future.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON June 19, 1990 by a unanimous vote of the members of the
Board.
