SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION Approve the continuation of the Sacramento Exhibit Committee and the "Guidelines for Maintaining and Updating the State Capitol Exhibit" . FINANCIAL IMPACT: The annual cost for regulary up-dating the Exhibit is estimated at $600. Contra Costa Council, financial sponsor for the new Exhibit, tentatively has agreed to share the cost with the County. This cost covers graphic artist, J.C. Bowen' s time, transportation, phone calls mailing, replacement of photos, text changes and printing. BACKGROUND: Since 1988 when the Sacramento Exhibit Committee was formed, members of the East and West Divisions of the California Retired Teachers Association, Contra Costa Council and County Staff have met to design the State Capitol Exhibit dedicated on January 4, 1990 . Upon completion of the Exhibit, the Sacramento Exhibit Committee met to discuss its maintenance and up-dating. Contra Costa Council was invited and agreed to share expenses 'for the up-dating and to name a member to serve on the Committee. Contra Costa County was asked to share expenses and provide staff to the Committee. Pat Burke, Management Analyst III , is currently staff to this committee. The Exhibit was designed to allow for pictorial representation of Contra Costa County. . With . the up-dating of pictures and text at least twice a year, several of the noteworthy areas of the County can appear in the Exhibit. This will continue to give it a "new look" . Several groups visit the Capitol each year and have expressed their appreciation of the new Exhibit. The Sacramento Exhibit Committee shares the Boards ' concern that the State Capitol Exhibit continue to be a positive representation of Contra Costa County and is willing to assume responsibility for coordinating its maintenance and up-dating.
