MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: May 22, 1990 SUBJECT: INCREASE of Project Contingency Funds and APPROVAL of Contract Change Order No. 2, Supplement 2 for the 1986 'C' Overlay Project, Project No. 0662-6134081-85 Specific Request(s)or Recommendations)&Background&Justification RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE Project Contingency Fund increase of$5,000.00 and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute Contract Change Order No. 2, Supplement 2 in the approximate amount of $ 5,000.00 to compensate the contractor, Bay Cities Paving and Grading, Inc. for increased flagging costs. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The increase in the contingency fund will be funded by the City of Orinda and the County based on the original City-County agreement. The County's share comes form funds received under Senate Bill 300. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: Additional flagging was required due to the unanticipated amount of pavement repair work. Because this change order and previously approved change orders exceed $ 25,000.00 Board approval is required. This change order represents the final step in settling the contractor's claims. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The lack of approval would preclude payment to the contractor for work accomplished.
