BACKGROUND• . The new Integrated Waste Management Plan Task Force will have the responsibility for coordinating and guiding the development of the new Waste Management Plan. The cities and the Board of Supervisors have agreed that the Task Force should consist of the current Solid Waste Commission expanded to include two additional members from the public, two from the solid waste industry, two from environmental organizations, one from each county region (East, Central and West) and one from the Delta Diablo Sanitation District. The Central County cities and West County cities have made their nominations. The East County cities and Delta Diablo Sanitation District are expected to make their nominations shortly. As is evident from the attached memorandum from the County' s Solid Waste Manager a number of highly qualified, interested and concerned citizens have applied for the seats designated for the public, solid waste industry and environmental organizations. Our Committee has reviewed the applications for each individual carefully and are recommending what we consider to be the top candidates in each category. In the case of the solid waste industry and environmental organizations we have provided the Board with four nominees, from which the Board should make two appointments. In the case of the public members, our Committee has narrowed the nominations to eight, from which list the Board should select two appointees. As soon as the nominations are received from the East County Cities and the Delta Diablo Sanitation District those nominations will be forwarded to the Board for appointment.
