HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04171990 - 1.20 l•LO IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proclaiming the) Week of April 22 to 28, 1990 ) RESOLUTION NO. 90/234 Contra Costa County Victims ' ) Rights Week ) WHEREAS, there is a great need to promote efforts by public and private sectors of our County to act to prevent crime and to provide greatly needed services to innocent victims of crime; WHEREAS, crime and fear of crime continue to be serious problems for the citizens of California; and WHEREAS, a fair and balanced criminal justice system must ensure that the needs and rights of victims are not over- looked in the process of protecting the rights of the accused; and WHEREAS, the criminal justice system would fail to function without the cooperation of victims and witnesses; and WHEREAS, the observance of Victims' Rights Week provides an opportunity to inform the public of the problems, needs and rights of victims and witnesses, and of the range of services and assistance available, and to acknowledge the efforts of concerned citizens, lawmakers and the criminal justice system to provide and" continue to improve these services; WHEREAS, the Contra Costa County Probation Department Victim/Witness Program and all citizens of Contra Costa County who are concerned about crime victims will join together during National Victim' s Rights Week to promote greater public awareness of the need to support victims ' rights and victim services pro- grams; WHEREAS, Governor Deukmejian has declared April 22 to 28 , 1990 as Victims ' Rights Week in California; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County that April 22 to 28, 1990 be designated Contra Costa County Victims' Rights Week; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County rededicates its energies and resources to recognize the rights and needs of victims of crime. PASSED on April 17, 1990 by unanimous vote of the Board members present. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an order entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
