HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04101990 - S.5 ` S. 5 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on April 10, 1990 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers, Schroder, McPeak, Torlakson and Fanden NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None SUBJECT: violations occurring at Quimby Island relative to the disposition of debris/waste into the Delta Chair Fanden advised that former State Senator John Nejedly wishes to apprise the Board of a situation occurring at Quimby Island in the Delta, and that he believes it to be of an urgent nature. The Board members unanimously agreed to the urgent nature of the matter and agreed to hear Senator Nejedly and to take appropriate action. Senator Nejedly advised that there was illegal activity occurring on Quimby Island relative to the disposition of debris/waste material into the waterways. He urged that the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and the State Department of Fish and Game become involved. Senator Nejedly advised that he had made a video tape of the incident and would like the opportunity to have the Board view the tape. The Board requested staff to "procure the proper equipment and advised Senator Nejedly that they would view the tape just before recessing at noon. Board members discussed the matter in some detail. IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the Director of Community Development is REQUESTED to prepare a report for the Board on April 17, 1990 on the violations occurring at Quimby Island relative to the disposition of debris and waste into the Delta. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the State Department of Fish and Game be invited to attend the April 17, 1990 Board meeting. . IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the matter is REFERRED to the District Attorney for investigation and possible prosecution. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the County Fish and Wildlife Study Committee is REQUESTED to continue to monitor this matter. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the matter is REFERRED to the Board's Water Committee for continued monitoring.
