SUBJECT: SAFETY AND PREVENTION REVIEW PROCESS BY THE HEALTH SERVICES
DEPARTMENT
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Direct the Environmental Services
Division of the Health Services Department to investigate the
hydrochloric acid spill that occurred on Antioch on March 25, 1990 and
determine what preventative steps might be taken to avoid this kind of
spill from reoccurring. Direct the staff to determine if both the
suppliers and buyers of hazardous chemicals are included in their
safety and prevention review process that was discussed in the
Environmental Affairs Committee meeting of March 26, 1990 .
