Environmental Health Division staff has maintained an ongoing review of efforts as they have progressed. On October 3 , 1989 the Board of Supervisors requested the Health Services Director to report on the progress which has been made in West County in implementing an improved West County emergency response capability to hazardous materials incidents, including the acquisition and staffing of an emergency response vehicle located in West County. Dr. Walker reported that the process of establishing West County emergency response capability for hazardous materials response is progressing very well. The Richmond Fire Department has trained their staff for hazardous materials response capability, and they expect a hazardous materials response vehicle to be equipped and in operation by June of this year. Our Committee believes the Environmental Health Division should be commended for their efforts in implementing the RMPP program and the hazardous materials emergency response. 2.
