HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03061990 - S.2 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring ) LINDA MAYO for Receiving the Gold ) RESOLUTION NO. 90/ 127 Award for Outstanding Citizen ) Linda Mayo encourages and promotes community interest and involvement in public education in order to enhance the quality of education for each student. She does this by volunteering and participating in many activities in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District. Linda' s commitment to public education was most recently evidenced by her participation in the November 1989 Mello-Roos parcel tax election. For this important election, Linda co-chaired the Help Repair Our Schools Committee. Under her leadership, the $90 million bond issue passed by 71 percent. In her capacity as co-chair, Linda was everywhere actively convincing community members to invest in public education. This was an enormous job which took a great deal of time, patience, and ability. In addition, .Linda has been active on the school district' s Drug Task Force, Facilities Review Committee, the College Park High School PTA, the Valley View Middle School PTA, the Pleasant Hill Elementary PTA, and the Pleasant Hill Site Council. She has served as president of the Mt. Diablo Council of PTA. For her work in PTA, she has received several prestigious awards. The saying that "one person can make a difference" truly applies to Linda Mayo. It is obvious to all that know her, and know of her, that her work has been of great benefit to the Mt. Diablo School District. i NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors honors LINDA MAYO as recipient of the Gold Award for Outstanding Citizen for her personal dedication to the betterment of the Mt.
