BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY
IN THE MATTER OF RESOLUTION NO. 90/177
commending Lenora Roehm on her
selection as Citizen of the Year
by the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce
WIERRAS,Lenora Roehm has long been a member of the East County
Community; and
WHEREAS,in addition to raising her own six children, Lenora gave love,
understanding and stability to 23 foster children over the years; and
WHEREAS,Lenora is in charge of the Loaves and Fishes daily
free lunch program at the Byron United Methodist Church and has also established an
emergency food and clothes pantry at the church; and
WHEREAS,Lenora is also in charge of the Brown Bag Program that
provides 175 grocery bags to the elderly on fixed incomes each Thursday; and
WHEREAS,Lenora heads up the government giveaway of surplus food to
the poor; and
WHEREAS,Lenora works 60 hours a week distributing food and bringing
library books to shut-ins with her only compensation being a smile and a thank you;
WHEREAS,Lenora celebrated Christmas by putting together and
distributing 41 Christmas baskets of food to the needy with the help of donations from
Knightsen school children,firefighters and a$300 donation for turkeys; and
WHEREAS,Lenora decided to take care of the sick and relieve the distress
of the poor and has spent the past 15 years providing a needed service in a loving and caring
manner; and
WHEREAS,because of her selfless contributions of time, love and energy,
the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce has selected Lenora Roehm as their Citizen of the
Year for 1990;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY,CALIFORNIA,DOES HEREBY
COMMEND Lenora Roehm on her selection as the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce
Citizen of the Year for 1990.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 27th day
of March, 1990.
