\ SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF AMENDMENT NUMBER THREE TO THE 1989-1990 LOW-INCOME HOME
\ ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM CONTRACT BETWEEN THE COUNTY AND THE
DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY (CONTRACT 489BD-2716)
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I . RECOMMENDED ACTION
APPROVE Amemdment Number Three to the 1989-1990 Low-Income Home
Emergy Assistance Program Contract between the - County and the
Department of Economic Opportunity, increasing the payment
limit from $981 ,789 to $1 , 163 ,023 , an increase 'and $181, 234,
and AUTHORIZE the Director, Community Services Department, to
sign contract documents on behalf of the County.
II . FINANCIAL IMPACT
N/A. Funds from this Amendment will be added to the 1990-1991
Department budget.
III . CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION
Failure to approve this Amendment will result in the loss of
funds to the County and eligible county residents.
IV. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDED ACTION
This Amendment provides $181 , 234 in Special Disaster Relief
funds to be used exclusively for ECIP and weatherization
services for county residents who meet program eligibility
requirements and whose homes were damaged in the October 17 ,
1989 , Loma Prieta earthquake.
This Contract has been reviewed and approved by County Counsel
as to form. No County funds are involved with this request.
