MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: FEBRUARY 6, 1990 SUBJECT: WILLOW PASS ROAD WIDENING PROJECT Project No.: 0662-6R4134 Task: ACQ Account: 3540 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) &BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. Recommended Action: OBJECT to the February 1990 Tax Sale of Assessor's Parcel No. 097-081-025, and REQUEST the County Tax Collector to delete the subject property from said sale and arrange for a transfer of the property to Contra Costa County. II. Financial Impact: Estimated cost is less than $3,000. III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: The subject property is a 35' x 220' strip of land required for two Public Works projects. The property is presently encumbered with a 25 foot wide concrete drainage channel that the County wishes to improve with a higher capacity facility. The front 12 feet of the subject is required for the widening of Willow Pass Road. The property is to be sold for nonpayment of taxes at the next tax sale, however it is unlikely there will be any bidders. Inclusion of the property into the Agency project will remove this uneconomic remnant from the tax delinquency inventory and restore its utility. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: Negative action may result in litigation, appeal and legal exposure, and expense for the County.
