Recommended Action: ACCEPT the Grant Deed dated June 30, 1989, from Central Contra Costa Sanitary District pursuant to the Agreement to Exchange Property dated September 13, 1988, with Central Contra Costa Sanitary District which was previously approved by the Board. II. Financial Impact: A future payment of $325, 000 from County funds which are 50% reimbursable from the State of California, or a possible exchange of property rights of a similar value. Reasons for Recommendations: These property rights are required for the continuing acquisition of the former Southern Pacific Railroad right of way for preservation of the corridor for public purposes. IV. Background: This segment (near Danville Boulevard and Rudgear Road in Alamo) of the former Southern Pacific right of way, which had reverted to the heirs of the original grantors, was acquired by Central Contra Costa Sanitary District. They have reserved an easement for sanitary sewer purposes and are willing to sell or exchange the fee title to this parcel to the County. V. Consequences of Negative Action: County will not have an uninterrupted corridor for future public uses and will not be able to take advantage of reimbursement of funds by the State of California.
