MICHAEL WALFORD, CHIEF ENGINEER DATE: JULY 18, 1989 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF CONTRACT CHANGE ORDER NO. 4 FOR THE LINDSEY BASIN, DRAINAGE AREA 56 PROJECT, PROJECT NO. 7566-6D8462-86, IN THE OAKLEY AREA Specific "' Request(s) or Recommendation(s) & Background & Justification RECOMMENDED ACTION: Authorize the Chief Engineer to execute Contract Change Order No. 4 for approximately $21, 000. 00 to compensate the contractor, Oliver DeSilva, Inc. , for contract item increases and required extra work. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The increase in the project cost will be funded by the project contingency fund. Project is funded by Drainage Area 56. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: This contract change order provides for changes in quantities used on the project and for changes essential to completion of the contract because Change Order No. 4 and previously approved change orders collectively exceed $25, 000. 00, which requires Board approval. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Lack of approval would preclude payment to the contractor for required work and prevent successful completion of the project.
