OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
In the Matter of Designating )
July 16, 1989, as Melody Howe )
Weintraub Day in Contra Costa ) RESOLUTION NO. 89/473
County )
Melody Howe Weintraub is a quasi-native Californian, having moved to
Contra Costa County when she was three months of age. She grew up
with the value of service to her community and sensitivity to all
people and their needs.
As a student, she became aware of each citizen' s civic
responsibilities. This responsibility led to her involvement in
local campaigns 'where she learned about democratic principles and
the electoral process. She was elected president of the Young
Democrats of California where she further demonstrated her leadership
abilities and organizational skills.
After completing her college degree in political science, Melody
served as a field representative to the Honorable George Miller,
Member of Congress for the 7th District of California. In that role,
she assisted the citizens of Contra Costa County in dealing with the
federal government on a myriad of issues.
Because of her strong belief in our nation' s precious right of
choosing its elected officials by free choice, Melody began a small
business as a campaign consultant. She is a respected member of the
business community in the City of Concord.
On the occasion ' of her 30th birthday, it is fitting to observe her
many contributions and commitment to the local community as she
continues her career and her dedication to the principles of a free
and responsive government.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors that
July 16, 1989 , be observed as Melody Howe Weintraub Day in Contra
Costa County and that recognition and congratulations be extended
to her on this occasion.
