The results of the survey will be used to present factual data to city and County Planning Commissions and City Councils regarding the extent and type of senior housing which is needed in the County. The data will also be shared with developers who would be interested in building senior housing in the County to describe the specific types of housing arrangements which senior citizens have identified. Our Committee agrees that there is certainly a pressing need for more housing which meets the special needs of senior citizens and that factual data on these needs would be of great assistance to policy making bodies which have to make decisions on development applications. We are, therefore, strongly recommending that the Board of Supervisors endorse these efforts on the part of the Advisory Council on Aging and authorize the Chairman to provide the Housing Committee with a letter to this effect. - 2 -
