RECOMMENDED ACTION: Request the Board of Supervisors approve establishment of a Petty Cash Fund for Data Processing Services not to exceed $1,000. II. REASON FOR RECOMMENDATION: Data Processing Services is developing a Disaster Recovery Plan with the objective of being able to re-establish the central County data center as quickly as possible so critical automated county systems can be put back into operation. Data Processing Services does not currently have a petty cash fund. A part of the Disaster Recovery Plan is the establishment of a petty cash fund to be used if necessary for small purchases of less than $50 for items such as food, small tools and miscellaneous electrical supplies. This fund would only be activated and used when a disaster affecting the Data Center is declared by the County Administrator or his designee. III. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Without a petty cash fund, Data Processing Services would have to utilize the purchase order process to buy necessary supplies which could delay acquiring needed supplies and could delay the start up of the central Data Center.
