RECOMMENDED ACTION APPROVE CY1990 Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) Local Plan application to the Department of Economic Opportunity, and AUTHORIZE the Acting Director, Community Services Department, to execute said documents on behalf of the Board. II . FINANCIAL IMPACT None. The funds involved with this request are not County generated from the local tax base. III . CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION Failure to approve this Board action may jeopardize 1990 CSBG funding to the County in the estimated amount of $400 , 000. 00 . IV. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDED ACTION The 1990 Community Services Block Grant Local Plan outlines to the Department of Economic. Opportunity the County' s program goals and -obj-ec't-1ves -1or'tne" 'next fiscal year that will have a measurable as well as potentially major impact on the causes of poverty in the County. The 1990 Goals and objectives for combating poverty were prioritized as follows: 1. Expanded information and referral services for providing services to the poor 2. Substance Abuse Said goals and objectives for the 1990 program were discussed, reviewed, and improved by the Economic Opportunity Council at a public hearing on June 15 , 1989. The community at large were also invited to comment on these recommendations, and those comments and opinions were taken into consideration in the adoption by the E.O.C. for this plan. This plan is due at DEO by June 30, 1989. The actual completion of the 1990 work plan will not be forwarded to DEO until mid September. No County funds are involved with this request.
