SUBJECT; Approval of Renewal Contract 122-219-7 with Canteen - Division
of TW Services , Incorporated for Congregate and Home-Delivered
Meals for the County ' s Senior Nutrition Program
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S ) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I . RECOMMENDED ACTION :
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute on behalf of the
County, Renewal Contract 422-219-7 with Canteen - Division of
TW Services , Incorporated in the amount of $773 , 603 for the
period July 1 , 1989 - June 30 , 1990 for congregate and home-
delivered meals for the County ' s Senior Nutrition Program. This
Renewal Contract continues Contract #22-219-5 through FY 1989-90
with minor changes in contract services .
II . FINANCIAL IMPACT :
This contract is 100% Federally funded through the State under
Title III C-1 and Title III C-2 of the Federal Older Americans
Act of 1965 . No County contributions are required .
The payment limit of the FY 1988-89 contract , as recently
amended, was $743 , 621 .
III . REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND :
Since 1974 the County has contracted for meals for the Senior
Nutrition Program. Contract 122-219-7 continues Prior Contract
422-219-5 through FY 1989-90 providing for preparation and
delivery of an approximate daily average of 900 regular diet
meals in bulk and 312 regular diet and 88 sodium-restricted diet
prepackaged meals on 250 County designated serving days . The
contractor delivers the meals to locations throughout the
County. The unit prices for meals to be provided by this
contractor during FY 1989-90 are as follows :
Bulk Standard Diet Meals $2. 261 per meal
Prepackaged Standard Diet Meals $2 . 627 per meal
Prepackaged Modified Diet Meals $2 . 726 per meal
This document has been approved by the Department ' s Contracts
and Grants Administrator in accordance with the guidelines
approved by the Board ' s Order of December 1 , 1981 (Guidelines
for contract preparation and processing, Health Services
Department ) .
