BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS
On February 7, 1989, the Board of Supervisors approved the
allocation of $46, 000 in Emergency Shelter Grant Program funds to
five sub-recipients and authorized the transmission of an
application for such funds to the U.S. Department of Housing and
Urban Development. Under the Stewart McKinney Homeless Assistance
Act, these funds are available on an entitlement basis for use by
these five sub-recipients for minor rehabilitation, equipment
purchases, operating and social service expenses as identified in
the respective project descriptions. The County recently received
a notice indicating that its application for fiscal year 1989
Emergency Shelter Grant Program funds in the amount of $46, 000 has
been approved.
