Miner, Executive Director CWLQ Contra Costa County Private Industry Council vv"" "1 DATE; April 20, 1989 SUBJECT: Authorizing Execution of 1989 JTPA Title II-B SYETP Contract with Contra Costa County Office of Education (#19-1112-0) SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDATION Authorize the Executive Director, Contra Costa County Private Industry Council, to execute on behalf of the County, standard form Contract #19-1112-0 with the Contra Costa County Office of Education for operation of the County's 1989 Summer Youth Employment Training Program (SYETP) under Title II-B of the Job Training Partnership Act (DTPA), for the term beginning April 1, 1989 and ending September 30, 1989, with maximum payment limit not to exceed $1,008,964 and subject to approval by County Counsel as to legal form. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT None. 100 percent federal funds. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND By its Order dated April 11, 1989, the Board authorized contract negotiations with the Contra Costa County Office of Education for the term beginning April 1, 1989 and ending September 30, 1989 and with a maximum payment limit not to exceed $977,393. These negotiations have been completed. On April 11, 1989, the Contra Costa County Private Industry Council received notification from the Job Training Partnership Division of the State Employment Development Department of the final. Title II- B allocation for 1989. This allocation increased the amount to be contracted with the County Office of Education from the preliminary limit of $977,393 to a final level of $1,008,964. The SYETP contract will provide for work experience, vocational assessment, counseling and job placement services for approximately 860 disadvantaged youths residing in Contra Costa County, excluding the City of Richmond.
