Office Paper Recycling Program
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION
Authorize Chair to execute a contract with Richmond Sanitary
Service for a pilot program to collect and market used white
office paper from County departments located in Richmond for a
period from November 18, 1988 to June 18, 1989, and month to
month thereafter.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
None.
BACKGROUNID/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION
In the Board' s effort to expand the white office paper recycling
program to additional County buildings, an agreement has been
reached with Richmond Sanitary Services for the collection of
white office paper from County buildings in the Richmond area.
Seven departments are participating in the expanded program,
which began November 18, 1988. All equipment and collection
services are being provided at no cost to the County, thereby
reducing salvage costs. During the initial phase, no revenue is
being derived by the County from the sale of the paper. Near the
conclusion of this contract an evaluation of program costs will
be conducted. At that time, this contract will be renegotiated.
