HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04041989 - S.5 5 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Designating ) April 7, 1989, as ROSE SANDECKI ) DAY in Contra Costa County ) RESOLUTION NO. 89/209 Rose Sandecki, R.N. , M.S. , is a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served as a combat nurse from 1968-1969. She is a team leader of the Concord Vet Center in the Department of Veterans' Affairs, a position she leaves on April 10th to assume new duties at the VA Medical Center in Menlo Park. Experiencing first hand the horror of war, the resulting devastation, and the price in human suffering has strengthened her courage and dedication to those men and women whose lives were unalterably affected by that war. She has, through her experiences with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, published several articles in medical journals which have focused upon this problem and greatly assisted in its understanding and treatment. Rose Sandecki is one of those rare individuals who incorporates loving sensitivity and compassion in her duties as a clinical counselor at the Veterans Center, providing a valuable and outstanding service to the entire community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors that Friday, April 7, 1989, is designated as' ROSE SANDECKI DAY in Contra Costa County and that all citizens join in honoring her and observing her contribution to the understanding and rehabilitation of those veterans to whom she ministers.
