HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04251989 - S.13 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring ) St. Paul's Episcopal Church ) RESOLUTION NO. 89/259 100th Anniversary on Friday, ) April 28, 1989 at 7: 30 P.M. ) WHEREAS five families from the small country villages of Walnut Creek, Danville and Orinda formed St. Paul' s Mission in June of 1888; and WHEREAS in November of 1888, ground was broken for the construction of the church, which was later moved from Locust Street to its present location on Trinity Avenue in 1950; and WHEREAS St. Paul' s Episcopal Church officially opened and held its first service on April 28, 1889, in which six members were baptized, 12 communicants and 16 children attended; and WHEREAS currently over 450 families at St. Paul' s Episcopal Church have faithfully contributed their time and monies to worthwhile outreach programs such as: Youth Homes, Hospice, Friends Outside and Food Pantry; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County hereby takes great pleasure in CONGRATULATING St. Paul's Episcopal Church on their 100th Year Anniversary, and COMMENDS them on their contributions to the community.
