BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS
On April 10, 1989 a meeting was held in Room 108 of the County
Administration Building to discuss the issues raised by the Rodeo
Committee's letter of March 8, 1989. An earlier more informal
meeting had taken place in Supervisor Fanden' s office a few weeks
prior to the Committee' s letter. Attached is a copy of a roster of
those who attended the meeting of April 10, 1989.
The letter from the Rodeo Waterfront Committee urges the County and
the East Bay Regional Park District to form a separate legal entity
to acquire the Rodeo Marina and restore it to its full potential.
The letter further indicates that the East Bay ' Regional- Park
District has informally indicated a willingness to participate in
funding a feasibility and preliminary design study. The Committee
indicated that such an undertaking would help revitalize the
downtown Rodeo area.

The meeting of April 10, 1989 covered these subjects and concluded
that feasibility studies must be undertaken prior to any commitment
to other actions on the part of the County. The County is
exploring the requirements of both the State Boating and Waterways
Agency and the East Bay Regional Park District to develop the
necessary outline for the required feasibility studies. In
addition, a mechanism to pay for the studies must be determined.
When these and other questions are answered we will bring a
recommendation back to the Board of Supervisors for action.
