RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve expenditure of $7560 from Housing Authority Local Management Funds for authorization of the Camp Fire Crimebusters Program at Bayo Vista, CAL 11-10, Rodeo, E1 Pueblo, CAL 11-5, Pittsburg, and Las Deltas, CAL 11-6, North Richmond, and authorize the Executive Director to execute the necessary agreement to implement the program, as recommended by the Advisory Housing Commission. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding for this program is available in the Housing Authority's Local Management Fund Account. 0 III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: For the past three years the Housing Authority has contracted with the Alameda-Contra Costa Council of Camp Fire to operate a two week summer Crimebusters Program in several public housing developments operated by the Housing Authority. This program has been very successful . The Alameda-Contra Costa County of Camp Fire had proposed a 1989 Crimebusters Day Camp for three Housing Authority developments. The program will serve about 100 youngsters at each of the three proposed sites of Bayo Vista in Rodeo, Las Deltas in North Richmond and El Pueblo in Pittsburg. A total of 300 children would be served by the 1989 program, with a total cost of $7,560 to the Housing Authority for this year' s program. On April 17, 1989 the Budget Committee of the Advisory Housing Commission reviewed the Camp Fire Crimebusters Day Camp proposal for 1989 and recommended that the Advisory Housing Commission recommend approval of the program to the Board of Commissioners. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Should the Board of Commissioners elect to not approve the expenditure of $7,100 from Housing Authority Local Management Funds to authorize the Camp Fire Crimebuster Day Camp Program at Bayo Vista, CAL 11-10, Rodeo, El Pueblo, CAL 11-5, Pittsburg, and Las Deltas, CAL 11-6, North Richmond, the youth of those areas will be deprived of a valuable tool to assist them in fighting crime.
