HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04251989 - 1.31 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of declaring the ) Month of May as MISSING CHILDREN'S ) RESOLUTION NO. 89/248 MONTH in Contra Costa County ) It is estimated that over one million children are reported missing in this country each year. This statistic reflects our society's need for a greater awareness regarding child abduction. We owe it to our children to become informed and to protect them by heightening the sensitivity of the general public toward stranger and parental abductions. Our county has been shocked by the recent disappearances of three young Bay Area citizens and is therefore highly aware of the tragedy this represents to our entire population. The proclamation of MISSING CHILDREN'S MONTH gives us a chance to display the American creativity and compassion that is necessary to meet the challenge of this critical problem. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors that the Month of May is declared MISSING CHILDREN'S MONTH in Contra Costa County and that each and every citizen will dedicate his and her efforts to prevent child abduction and to aid in the recovery of all missing children. PASSED AND ADOPTED ON April 25, 1989 by a unanimous vote of the members of the Board present. Tom Torlakson, Chair c wers N cy C. Fanden Robert I.
