IN THE MATTER OF
Congratulating the San Ramon Library)
Foundation and the San Ramon Branch
of the American Association of
University Women RESOLUTION N0- 89/230
WHEREAS, the San Ramon Library Foundation was formed July 25, 1985 in re-
sponse to a request by the San Ramon City Council to promote the planning,
building, acquiring, maintaining, and operating of a library in San Ramon; and
WHEREAS, having faithfully and capably carried out this charge, the San
Ramon Branch Library is officially opened at 100 Montgomery in San Ramon this
fifteenth day of April, 1989; and
WHEREAS, the Foundation and the American Association of University
Women--San Ramon Branch organized community-wide support of the library
through contributions and volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, the San Ramon Library Foundation and San Ramon AAUW jointly
raised over $300,000 for the opening collection of 30,000 books for the
library; and
WHEREAS, the Foundation has established an organization of over 500
"Friends" for the San Ramon Branch Library; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of the Foundation and San Ramon Branch of
AAUW the entire community--city, county corporate community, local businesses,
schools, civic organizations, and individuals--have worked together in a
Private/Public partnership to raise a total of over $470,000 for the San Ramon
Branch Library; and
WHEREAS, the people of the San Ramon community have benefited greatly
from the efforts of the San Ramon Library Foundation and the American Associa-
tion of University Women made on their behalf, and their efforts are examples
of excellence in civic leadership.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra
Costa County takes great pleasure in congratulating San Ramon Library Founda-
tion and the San Ramon Branch of AAUW on the achievement of their goals and
commends them on their contributions to their community, and conveys to them
best wishes for continued success in their future endeavors; and be it further
PASSED AND ADOPTED by unanimous vote of the Board members present on this
11th day of April, 1989.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a
resolution entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors on the date
aforesaid.
