Proposed Duties
for
Laboratory Technician position
in
HIV Prevalence Survey Program
- Processes blood samples for HIV testing. This includes receiving
specimens, logging them in, centrafuging, labeling and distributing
samples for testing by Microbiologists.
- Assists Public Health Microbiologists in the conduct of AIDS testing
using semi-automated machine processes.
- Assists other Technicians in making reagents and test media and in
assembling necessary testing supplies at work stations.
- Washs dirty glassware, decontaminates or discards used supplies,
sterilizes equipment and prepares stool specimens for parasite exams.
