Johnson, M.D. 121 Shellie Court West Pittsburg, CA 94565 BACKGROUND: One of the requirements for the Mental Health Advisory Board is that there must be a psychiatrist on the Board. The psychiatrist seat has been vacant for some time. The Mental Health Advisory Board has recruited for a psychiatrist and has been successful in recruting a psychiatrist who lives and works in east County. The Chair of the Mental Health Advisory Board notes that Dr. Johnson has recently opened a clinic in Pittsburg and is the only psychiatrist in the area who will see Medi-Cal clients. The Mental Health Advisory Board recommends Dr. Johnson' s appointment to the vacant psychiatrist position on the Mental Health Advisory Board, and we are pleased to join the MHAB in recommending Dr. Johnson' s appointment. Dr. Johnson' s application and the cover memo from the Chair of the MHAB are attached. Johnson, M.D., to the "Psychiatrist" position which was vacated by Dr. Richard Hancey. Dr. David M. Johnson is a psychiatrist who is in private practice in Pittsburg and Oakland. He recently opened his clinic in Pittsburg and is the only psychiatrist in the area who will provide service to Medi-Cal clients. His appointment would aid in meeting our minority requirement. This Dr. David M. Johnson is not to be confused with the appointment to the MHAB on January 9, 1989, of another Dr. David M. Johnson, Jr., who is a pediatrician. The MHAB has approved the recommendation of Dr. Johnson to the board. We look forward to having Dr. Johnson on the NW as we have experienced a long vacancy in this position.
