THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
Adopted this Order on March 21, 1989 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Powers, Fanden, McPeak, Torlakson and Schroder
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None
SUBJECT: Proposal to rename and renumber streets, Livorna
Road and Miranda Avenue, Bogue Ranch, Alamo area
This being the time fixed for hearing the proposal to rename
and renumber certain streets in the Livorna Road and Miranda Avenue,
Bogue Ranch area of Alamo; and
The Chairman opened the public hearing and requested the
Public Works Director to review the proposal.
Michael Walford, Public Works Director, reviewed on the map
the roads and streets proposed to be renamed and renumbered,
enumerated the reasons for the proposals and advised that staff had
agreed not to rename a portion of what is now Miranda Avenue to Turner
Court as proposed in the Resolution of Intention. .
Carlo Borlandelli, 2101 Miranda Avenue, Alamo, appeared and
expressed his opposition to changing the name of that portion of
Miranda Road on which he lives to Livorna Road, and suggested adopting
a second alternative which he stated would leave a very logical system
in tact and which will affect very few people.
David Murdock, 2171 Miranda Avenue, Alamo thanked the Public
Works Department for reversing its suggestion to rename a portion of
Miranda Avenue Turner Court. He stated that he supported his
neighbors in wishing to keep the name Miranda Avenue rather than being
renamed Livorna Road. He objected to the noticing of this hearing
being done by posting and suggested rather a mailing to all property
owners directly affected.
Arthur W. Anderson, Jr. , 2081 Miranda Avenue, advised that
his family had several businesses using his current address and that
there are two major horse ranches above him that do advertising
throughout the nation. He objected to the proposed name changes,
noting that one of the proposed roads is merely an easement. He
suggested Miranda Creek Road if the road needs to be renamed. He
advised that he did not wish to have any street signs of any kind.
Supervisor Schroder commented that his office had not had
requests from residents with respect to this matter and he wondered if
those residing in the area knew about today' s hearing. He advised
that he would like to take into consideration the testimony he had
heard today and have an opportunity to talk with the residents.
As recommended by Supervisor Schroder, IT IS BY THE BOARD
ORDERED that the hearing is CLOSED and decision is DEFERRED to March
28 , 1989 on the determination agenda.
