SUBJECT: AMENDMENT TO PROPERTY TAX SHARING
AGREEMENT WITH CITY OF SAN RAMON
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the attached resolution, which amends the current resolution on
transfer of property taxes to the City of San Ramon.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Under the terms of the resolution, the city would receive a total of
$186,400 in additional property taxes from the Bishop Ranch Annexation;
$143 ,600 from the County and $42,800 from County Service Area R-7 . These
are the amounts that both the City and County expected the City to receive
when the original tax sharing agreement was signed.
BACKGROUND:
Several months ago, the City discovered that a change in the State Law
reduced the property taxes which would otherwise be allocated to the City
from the Pacific Bell development in Bishop Ranch. They requested that the
County agree to an amendment to the property tax sharing agreement which
would make the city "whole" , thereby achieving the intent of the original
property tax sharing agreement. Upon investigation, the County Staff
discovered that the city was correct in their analysis of the impact and
that the most expeditious way to handle correction would be through a
change in the existing agreement.
