Bruno JBJK/sa By , DEPUTY bo:21.t3 "" ` REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: On September 15, 1987 the Board adopted a policy for the utilization of minority and women business enterprises for construction contracts. The policy made a distinction and set separate goals for the employment of "MBE"-s and "WBE"-s. The "Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1987" requires the combination of these categories as a single "DBE" (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) . Section A. 3 of the Board' s policy provides for compliance with federal/state requirements. On February 9, 1988 the Board modified its policy to conform to federal requirements for federally financed projects. This action is in response'' tollthe requirement of the annual updates. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: By not complying with the requirements of the "Federal-Aid Highway Act of 198711 , the County could lose federal-aid road project funds. al i II ii l ,I
