Dear Burch:
Through the years there has been much discussion about
landscaping Highway 4 through Martinez. I recall you
pledging years ago that that section of highway would be
landscaped. I also am aware of the strict budget constraints
facing CALTRANS and all public agencies.
Because Highway 4 is designated as a scenic highway, and
the fact that much open area was left for that purpose that
is now covered in weeds and other debris, and -.further that
the region again may be facing a water shortage or draught;
I s est and encourage that the area be planted in a draught
tot erant, low maintenance manner.
I especially would like to see Pepper Trees, common to the
historic Martinez area, along with arid plantings of a low
maintenance variety.
The residents of Martinez and users of Highway 4 have waited
too long to have this roadway completed. I look forward to
seeing this accomplished within the coming year.
Sincerely,
Nancy Fah n
