We don' t need to know the recipe. However, we do need to understand why this drug is so prolific and readily available. Maybe then we can really understand the full scope of this problem and make an impact on it. BACKGROUND: It is my understanding that .it is very easy to get the components to manufacture crack. You can buy what you need over the counter. You can make it at home in your own kitchen. You don' t need a lab or special equipment. In fact, it' s become so popular and easy to make that it has replaced the "bathtub gin" of prohibition days . The elected officials, parents and citizens of Contra Costa County must educate themselves on the uses of drugs - both commercial and recreational - if we' re going to battle substance abuse. If we don' t know as much about drugs as the users and the pushers we've lost the battle before it' s even begun. Our ignorance keeps drug pushers. in business.
