HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07121988 - 2.1 (2) TO BOARD OF SUPERVISORS ^,.,,.,+ FROIN: Phil Batchelor C tra County Administrator C )sta DATE: July 6, 1988 Co^ SUBJECT: Contra Costa County Statement of Values SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION• Adopt the attached "Statement of Values" for Contra Costa County and authorize its distribution to each Department Head as a statement of the values in which this County believes strongly. BACKGROUND: One of the valuable training tools used in the private sector to help all employees feel a part of the organization and understand what is important to the organization is to articulate a statement of values. Such a statement of values tells employees what their employer believes is important. A statement of values says: "This is why we exist. This is where we are going. " The County Administrator formed a Training Council in an effort to provide broad direction to the County' s training programs. The attached proposed Contra Costa County Statement of Values is intended to provide the broad philosophical underpinning for the County' s training programs and to help focus employees ' efforts in directions that are consistent with the desires of the Board of Supervisors. The Training Council has developed and approved this Statement of Values. If it is approved by the Board of Supervisors, it will be broadly distributed to employees and will focus the County' s training program in areas consistent with the Statement of Values. The County Administrator chairs The Training Council which includes: Gerald Buck, County Probation Officer Jack deFremery, Agricultural Commissioner.
