Agency Secretary Auditor-Controller Chief Engineer By_(l , DEPUTY LT/sa bo: 12 .t7 i REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: The Agency is constructing major street improvements for the Pleasant Hill BART Specific Plan area. This contract change orders provide for changes which are required because of un- anticipated conflicts with various utilities and/or adjacent projects. It also provides for work not included in the original contract and necessary for the completion of the Specific Plan improvements. These change orders provide for design standards adopted after the contract was executed, traffic control measure not previously anticipated, and right of way costs associated with the additional widening on Treat Boulevard. . These change orders provide for compensation to the contractor for which are required to complete the project. Because these change orders and the previously approved change orders collectively exceed $25, 000, Agency approval is required. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Failure to approve these change orders will significantly delay construction of the improvements as well as impact public access to the Pleasant Hill BART Station.
