MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: June 28, 1988 SUBJECT: File Suit Against Owners of an Abandoned Aircraft at Buchanan Field Airport Specific Request(s) or Recommendation(s) & Background & Justification RECOMMENDED ACTION: AUTHORIZE County Counsel to file suit against the owners of Cessna 411 , N410OF for delinquent fees totalling approximately $10,000.00. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Potential collection of delinquent fees in the amount of approximately $10,000. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACK©ROUND: In July of 1983, Cessna 411, N4100F, was abandoned in the transient parking area of Buchanan Field Airport. The Federal Aviation Administration aircraft registration microfiche shows the aircraft was sold to O'Hara & Kendall Aviation of San Jose. O'Hara and Kendall has informed this office that they sold the aircraft to Tim Cooney of Shannon Aviation on May 3, 1983. Several attempts have been made to contact Mr. Cooney at the last known address. All of the mail has been returned by the Post Office showing "Forwarding Address Expired." County Counsel has advised that collection of the delinquent fees will require the filing of a suit against both O'Hara & Kendall and Tim Cooney.
