McKinney, Director of ORC Costa DATE: July 25, 1988 County SUBJECT: Initiation of Litigation to Recover Costs of Damage to County Property SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Authorize and direct County Counsel to initiate legal action against Michael Paul Morton, Henry Collado and Tony Xuereb, for the recovery of $6,968.11, along with cost of suit. II. BACKGROUND: Mr. Morton was the driver of a car which was in an accident on July 18, 1985. Mr. Collado and Mr. Xuereb were the registered owners. In the accident, County property i.e. , four temporary signs and one electric traffic sign were damaged. Mr. Morton was cited for excessive speed at the time of the accident. Legal action is necessary to recover costs of such damages.
