THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
Adopted this Order on May 3 , 1988 , by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Powers, Fanden, McPeak, Torlakson, Schroder
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None
----------------------------------------------------=-------------
SUBJECT: EBMUD Water Allocation
Supervisor Robert Schroder presented a proposal to
initiate a task force, comprised of representatives of the cities
of Orinda, Lafayette, Moraga, Walnut Creek, Danville, San Ramon and
the County, to pursue reconsideration of the East Bay Municipal
Utility District (EBMUD) water allocation formula.
Supervisor Tom Powers transmitted to the Board letters
from the West County cities of E1 Cerrito, Hercules, Pinole,
Richmond and San Pablo, expressing the belief that creation of such
a task force may be premature and urging the Board to defer action
until EBMUD has made a presentation on the water allocation formula
to all affected cities. The West County cities also requested
representation on such a task force if it is established.
Supervisor Schroder noted that EBMUD was holding a
public information meeting this evening and that he and the Mayors
of several Central County cities would be attending that meeting.
He therefore recommended deferring action on the matter to a later
date.
Board members commented on the need for more information
on the details of the allocation formula and agreed that a
presentation by EBMUD would be helpful.
IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that establishment of a task
force to urge EBMUD to reconsider its water allocation decision is
DEFERRED.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Dave Okita, Community
Development Department, is REQUESTED to arrange a presentation to
the Board by EBMUD relative to its allocation formula and policy.
