MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: May 24, 1988 SUBJECT: PROGRAM SUPPLEMENT #66 WHICH PROVIDES FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION (FHWA) EMERGENCY RESTORATION FUNDING FOR ENGINEERING, RIGHT OF WAY AND CONSTRUCTION FOR THE PLEASANT HILL ROAD SLIDE REPAIR PROJECT (PROJECT NO. 06 71-6R6775-86) Specific Request(s) or Recommendation(s) & Background & Justification I. RECOMMENDATION Approve and authorize the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors to execute Program Supplement #66 which provides $123 , 500 iri Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Emergency Restoration Funds for engineering, right of way and construction for the Pleasant Hill Road slide repair project. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT The supplement provides reimbursement from the FHWA Emergency Restoration Fund for 100 percent of the County' s ,estimated engineering, right of way and construction costs for the project. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND On June 21, 1977, the Board approved County-State Master Agreement No. 04-5928 for the funding of Federal Aid Projects. On February 12 , 1986, Contra Costa County qualified for Federal funds to repair a slide on the Pleasant Hill Road, 200ft. north of Taylor Boulevard. Continued on attachment: X yes Signature: � . Project design is now nearing completion. The project is scheduled to be advertized for contract bids in the Summer of 1988. Construction is expected to be completed by the Winter. of 1988. Caltrans and the Federal Highway Administration have determined that the County can be reimbursed for the County's estimated engineering, right of way and construction costs for the project. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION If this program supplement is not approved, the County will have to absorb the entire cost of engineering, right of way and construction for this project.
