DATE: April 13, 1988
SUBJECT: AB 3205 (Tanner) -
Specific Request(s) or Recommendations(s) & Background & Justification
RECOMMENDATION
Support AB 3205 (Tanner) which would establish an allocation method for State funding of the
County Hazardous Waste Management Plan.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
UnderAB 3205 the County would receive 35%of its first allocation, or$70,000. Staff believes this
would be adequate to complete the Hazardous Waste Management Plan.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND
AB 2948 (Tanner) requires Counties to prepare a Hazardous Waste Management Plan. The State
funded these plans at levels commensurate with the amount of hazardous waste shipped off-site in
each County. Contra Costa County received $200,000 in the first funding allocation but only
$35,000 in the second allocation. AB 3205 (Tanner) is designed to rectify the funding inadequacy
of the second allocation.
