BACKGROUND: SB 2179 allocates $600, 000 from the State General Fund to the State Department on Aging for Local Area Agencies on Aging to provide meals to home-bound "functionally impaired adults" under the age of 60. The Senate Health and Human Services Committee amended SB 2179, increasing the amount of the allocation and removing a requirement for local matching funds. Currently, Contra Costa County has no specific program nor funding to provide meals to home-bound disabled or "functionally impaired" adults under age 60. Any State funding made available for such efforts could be used to augment the services provided within the Home-delivered meals program. CONTINUED ON ATTACHMENT: _ YES SIGNATURE.
