20th Anniversary of the Kennedy- ) RESOLUTION NO. 88/ 261
King Memorial College Scholarship )
Fund, Ltd. )
The Kennedy-King Memorial College Scholarship Fund, Ltd. , began
in 1968 for the purpose of providing college-level scholarships
to needy and deserving minority students in Contra Costa County.
Over the -past 20 years, 127 students have benefited from this
program. This year, another 18 students will receive
scholarships, carrying forward the ideals and principles of
education and self-improvement exemplified by the lives of
Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr.
Always sensitive to the desire for education, the citizens of
Contra Costa County bear witness to this tradition and honor the
memory of these two statesmen for whom this scholarship fund is
named.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors that
Contra Costa County recognizes the impact the Kennedy-King
College Scholarship Fund, Ltd. , has had on the community, and
congratulates it on its 20th anniversary.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ;ON MK by a unanimous vote of the
Baord.
