SUBJECT: CLARIFICATION OF THE ALIGNMENT OF THE OAKLEY ROAD "EXTENSION"
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Refer to the Public Works Department,
County Counsel and General Services Department (Real Property
Division) the issue of clarifying the exact alignment of the Oakley
Road extension being used by the Oakley-Bethel Island Waste Water
Authority and surrounding properties.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: In 1893 , the Board of Supervisors
accepted and dedicated a "public highway" known as "Oakley Road"
extending east across the railroad tracks. Some of the road areas is
Nutted by land owned by the Porter estate and other properties include
the old railroad property. The road is apparently not at its center
position and furthermore curves totally off its alignment towards the
far eastern end of the road before it turns to the south. The Oakley
Sanitary District is the joint powers member to the OBIWA agency and
the road is a county road. Certain liabilities and problems may exist
_i_n terms of current usage and future access. It is in the county
interest, in my opinion, to clarify these issues as soon as possible
and direct the road to be placed in the proper alignment.
